BRIAR WREN

EXPRESSING ATYPICAL

A Creative Space for Youth Navigating “Normal”

This group is for the quirky. For the "outside the box" thinkers, the riff raff, the "class clown". This group is for the rainbow, and also for the people who just don't want to fit into the grid. For the neurospicy, the creative pessimist, and the "why do I need a label" type human. This group finds the middle road in an otherwise broad venn diagram.

Expressing Atypical is a group for young people that struggle to fit into the "normal" box. This group is intended to connect psychoeducation with community thinking in order to build small systems of change in each participant. The best fit for this group are young people that don't always have that "best fit" space- we are here for you. This is your space.

Through her ten years of working with young people, Briar has been finding overlap between creative thinking and outside the box identities. It was in her clinical work that this overlap often became pathologized and she began to untangle this through creative arts and verbal processing. Briar remains passionate about safe spaces, creative self discovery, and processing what it means to be "normal" in a post-covid world.
